    Overall build quality

I got it as my first Balisong with a live blade and overall I'm pretty satisfied with the build quality and performance my only issue is the blade strength. Personally I used it as a excuse and after 2 weeks of pretty intense wear opening and cutting cardboard boxes and cutting string it dulled the tip but not enough for me to have to sharpen it or anything so far and I've had it for almost a month now.

The Obsidian-S is a work of art!

Beautiful as it is, it's rock-solid. I prefer the G10 scales of the -S. If you need to round the corners some with fine sandpaper, to tailor the fit & feel to your hand, nothing could be more simple. Just be sure to do so conservatively; you can't put back what's been removed... I opted for the Spear blade. It's shank-tastic! I love it! I assume the Bowie would flip a little more nimbly, especially for a beginner! But I didn't buy this to practice & play with...I have Maxace's practice models for that. In 2008 my balisong saved my life. In a heartbeat, do to equipment failure, I needed to cut/dig my way through a heavy rigging line, that was seconds away from dragging me to my death. A tipical folder's joint very likely would not have been strong enough to handle the abuse. But the balisong is far stronger. I will carry one for the rest of my life; and I'll probably be buried with it!
