About Terry Guinn Knives
Hello, I started making knives in 1982 with the aid of my father a master machinist. I sold my first knife in 1990 and used the profits to equip my shop and buy more materials. I enjoy the creativity and satisfaction that comes from turning raw materials into beautiful and useful tools. All of my knives are built totally by me, from the heat treating to the final sheath making. I became full time maker in 2017.
I prefer to use air hardening steels, S30V, CPM154, ATS-34 and D-2. Although I have used high carbon steel on occasion. I have worked with Damascus and am familiar with heat treat and etching techniques. All types of handle material is used, even stone. Synthetics, exotic wood, bone, mother of pearl, ivory and stag can also be used. My knives are made using the stock removal method. Due to my machinist background this is the method I prefer. I enjoy all aspects of knife making. I have built automatics, lock backs, slip joints, liner locks, bowies, daggers, camp knives, kitchen knives, gut hooks, tactical and leather round knives. Since my introduction to the Internet around 2000 I have had much success with balisong knives.
My family and I enjoy the outdoors, camping in the Rocky Mountains, hunting, fishing and motorcycling. We believe in serving Jesus Christ and ministering to others as we are lead to. I will be happy to produce that special knife that you design or one of my own creations. The photos on this web site is only a few of the over 900 knives that I have made so far.
Thank You for your interest, Terry Guinn
